Kelly was born November 21, 1947 in High Point. He was a native of Thomasville, and had been a resident of the Oak Island area since age nine. Kelly loved to fish, had formerly been a building contractor, and junk dealer. He considered himself to be the ultimate recycler. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents Howard Small and Lucille Poole Small, and a brother Sonny Small.
Survivors include his sister Faye Dorsett of Thomasville, his girlfriend of 14 years, Ginny McHenry of Southport; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 30, 2017 in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
