Dearest cousin Joan
I'm sorry we didn't keep in touch. Sending Prayers to you and your family. I remember ice skating together on the pond across from your home.

Mrs Van Noordt was a calm amongst the storm of chaos. I lived at a motel, not far from her Homestead. Raising five boys was no small feat. It always seems that every holiday was marked with an injury or a visit to the hospital, or sometimes both! I had the delight to know her when her sons and I we’re students at Otter Valley Union High School.  Her sons were great athletes, and many of them attended Norwich Academy, which was commendable. I was very disappointed when they moved away, but she will remain in my heart as a formidable woman, to be respected, to be admired, and had the devout love of her entire family. Rest in peace, Mrs. Van Noordt. 

Mike and I send condolences to Joan's family. Joan was a good golfing friend, a loving Mom and Grandmom who loved to talk about her family and blessed with a fun sense of humor. Know she will be missed by many.

Joan and I share in the grief of our five nephews and their respective families.  She will surely be missed by all.

My thoughts are with Joan's family today. I am the leader of the Bunco group and it took me a while to talk her into joining us but then watch out!  She was so lucky with the dice :)

Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of great sorrow. Joan will be missed by all.

I quite by accident saw Joan about a week ago while on a tour of Carillion.  I was pleasantly surprised to see her.  I played bridge with her often and we were kindred spirits since we have the same first name.  I will miss her.

Our sincere sympathy to all of Joan's boys, family and grandchildren. We offer prayers for peace and God's mighty comfort as you grieve her loss.

There are two stories grandma would always tell me from when I was younger.
 
Every time we went to the lap pool in Caswell Dunes, grandma and her friends would explain why grandma was responsible for my swimming abilities. As a small child, I had taken my favorite alligator toy with us to the pool. As grandma held me in the water, I dropped my toy. Grandma bent over to get it and a nearby friend yelled "Joan! You're drowning the baby!" Of course I was fine and became all the more adept in the water. 

Nap time was always a struggle when I was younger, but grandma had a secret method to getting me to calm down for a nap. We would ride all the way to the light house and grandma would point and say "There's the lighthouse!" And she'd keep doing lap after lap of this until I finally knocked out. 

Grandma, I will always miss your printer paper cards, playing solitaire, having tea parties, and saving tree frogs from skimmers at the pool with you. I love you.

Todd, Brett, Ross, Glen and Scott and your families, we are all so saddened by the passing of your mother and our Aunt Joan. No words can express the grief you are feeling when your mother died. We lost our mother, Aunt Joan's sister Dorothy, 22 years ago. We still feel the loss. All of you are in our prayers.

It is with much sadness, that Butch and I learned of Joan's passing.  She was such a sweetheart, and I so enjoyed my visits with her.
