Mr. Finnegan was born August 3, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late John and Henrietta Finnegan. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the the Oak Island VFW Post 10226 and The American Legion.
Survivors include his significant other, Barbara Azzara; his dog, Jake; two daughters, Colleen Gregory and husband Michael, and Eileen Johnson and husband Brian; a grandson, Michael Gregory Jr. and wife Meredith; a granddaughter, Kayla Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Gregory III, Savannah Gregory, and Bryce Gregory.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 1:15 p.m at Boiling Spring Lakes VFW.
