He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Amato.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Amato; two children, Jeffrey Amato and wife Donata and Maryanne Bartolomeo and husband Thomas; four grandchildren, Mira Amato, Aniella Amato, Edgar Amato, and Taylor Bartolomeo; and a brother, Gerard Amato and wife Gale; and a niece, Kelsey Amato.
