Joseph Edmond Duquette III, age 76, of Southport, North Carolina passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Dosher Memorial Hospital. Joseph was born February 12, 1944 in Elkhart, IN to the late Joseph Edmond Duquette, Jr. and Arlene Arthur Duquette.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by one sister and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Duquette; his three sons, Don (Joan) Duquette, Mike Duquette, and Robert (Carlie) Duquette; two brothers, four sisters, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Duquette proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Era. After moving to Southport in 1999, Joseph continued to serve others by volunteering at Dosher Memorial Hospital and aboard the USS North Carolina. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Master Board for South Harbour Village and President of the Golf Villas Board for South Harbour Village. Joseph taught Latin at Brunswick Community College and served as the early morning desk clerk at the aquatic center. His friends will miss seeing him at his "office" at Port City Java, and he will be dearly missed by his family.
A funeral mass for Mr. Duquette will be held on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at 12 o'clock at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport, with burial to follow at Cape Fear Memorial Park. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seating will be restricted at the church.
