I so very much miss my brother Joe. We usually talked on the phone every week or so. We were only a year and one day apart so we grew up together and did so many things together. He was always very positive.He loved  being with his family. My brother and my friend💕

Joe is missed by all of us at Dosher Hospital . 
We think of him often !  He was a great asset to 
our volunteer base . 

Loved our Latin contests. He was such a joy to be around. 
He was the person who always made you feel better about yourself.
Rest In Peace dear friend.

We are so saddened to hear about Joe. He  will be missed by so many people who have known him and his "bigger than life" personality.  If it were not Joe I would not been into cycling since 1994 and I would not have met Annie at Lake Norman.

Barbara: Our sincerest sympathy we extend to you.  Joe has left our lives, but not our memories.  We are so happy we have your visit to Buffalo to remember.  The time spent with us and Uncle Donnie and all the Duquette cousins was very special.  Thinking of you with love.

Joe is my bow tie mentor. He was finally able to teach me (my fault, not his) how to tie one correctly prior to the Knights marching in the Oak Island Christmas parade. He even gave me one of his black ties for formal Knights functions.  He was truly a gentleman.

This is such incredibly sad news.  Barbara, my heart is breaking for you – and for all of us who were blessed to know Joe.

There isn't anyone I know who brought such enthusiasm, vitality, humor and grace to all that he did.  We all had the incredible good fortune to connect with Joe and Barbara through Latin, but our Latin classes with him just opened up other opportunities to develop and share great friendships - with Joe at the center of the circle.  

He was truly one of a kind - a very special guy whom we will never forget and who will remain a bright spot forever in my mind and heart.  He was a Renaissance man in so many respects, having lived a life full of diverse experiences, living them all to the fullest.  

Thinking of his many, many exploits and accomplishments makes me smile and offer thanks for Joe being part of my life.  I wish I had met him sooner, and I will cherish his memory forever.

volunteer giving his time and energy and a true asset for our

Dear Mrs. Barbara,
My sister and I went to Dinah A. Gore fitness center Monday thru Friday early morning for years.   I looked so forward to seeing Joe in the morning so we could discuss politic, life and service all while he was constantly vetting me to sign up for his Latin class.   Your husband was such a wonderful man and I so enjoyed debating with him.  Prayers are with you and family.  And thank you for sharing him with us, Pauline Hankins 

We all lost a good friend. My companion for three years in restoring the dental office on the Battleship NC. His devotion to the ship and friendship will be a lasting memory for me.

Diane, I am so sorry to read about Joe’s death (and that of your other siblings). How hard it must be to lose brothers and sisters. I remember Joe from St. Jude and CC. It sounds like he had a happy life.

I always enjoyed seeing Joe and talking with him when I volunteered in Sick Bay. He was always joyful and welcoming, both to me and the public. You could tell he really loved sharing with the visitors. I will miss seeing him at BB 101 events. His personality and presence in the Dental Office is irreplaceable.

Joe and Barbara are my friends from USS NORTH CAROLINA and through our shared, deep Christian faith. Joe became a member of Brunswick Early College High School the second year of the school. He cared deeply about the students and the faculty. He will be missed by students and faculty with whom he worked.  His positive attitude and willingness to do what needed to be accomplished will be missed in the community. May God strength his family during this time. 

Joe worked at Brunswick Country Early College, I believe it was in our 4th year. He was in charge of the place where upperclassmen worked when not in a college class at Brunswick Community College. He was a delight! He always had a smile and an affinity for Latin. I took a class he taught at BCC in Latin some years ago. After he stopped working at ECHS I saw him early in the morning at the aquatic center where he worked for a while. I had a son (Joe knew David) who attended ECHS who went in the Navy. We often talked about that and how he was doing. I will really miss him. I’m sorry for your loss.
