Julia A. Brown

Mrs. Brown was born July 17, 1938 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, daughter of the late William H. and Marion McCabe Lathrop. She retired after 27 years of service with AT&T as a service adviser. She enjoyed volunteering at the Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death was her brother, William “Bill” Lathrop.

Survivors include her husband Loyd Brown of Boiling Spring Lakes; daughter, Karen Mullins of Southport; sisters, Carol Gallagher of Southport and Jayne Lathrop of Southport; three grandchildren, Thomas McGilvray of San Diego, Jacy Barbee of Raleigh, and Taylor Barbee of Wilmington; and her loving feline companions, Zoey and Pepper.

Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 10-11am at the funeral home.
