He often spoke of his of his time on his grandfather's farm and was proud of his working life, beginning at the age 11. In high school he played football with verve and enthusiasm despite his short stature, eventually winning the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman trophy.
After a stint in the Marines, he attended Bowling Green State University where he met and married his wife, Deborah. Upon graduation in 1961, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where Ken began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young. After 34 years with EY, he and Deb retired to Southport in 1996. This move brought new friends, golfing, boating, and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Boor Markley; his daughters, Lisa Barber (Pat) of Largo, Florida, Christy Ghaster (Patrick) of Waterville, Ohio; his sister, Vicky Sairs (Rueben); his brother, Mike Markley (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Lydia, Hallie, and Jack; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Markley.
