Kurt was known for his open, easy going, and respectful character. Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and any person who came into contact with Kurt on the street or at the grocery store will remember him as always making time to engage in good hearted conversation, usually with a subtle angle on education, whether it be geography, trivia or values. Reliably and remarkably generous with complements and kind encouragement, Kurt was an egalitarian and dreamer of world peace who quietly took opportunities throughout his life to lend a hand, increase understanding, and raise up those he encountered in need.
After serving in the US Navy during the War in Vietnam, Kurt attended night school at Temple University. While also working and raising a family, he made time to volunteer throughout his life. He was the administrator of a food cooperative, coached Commun Youth Soccer for many years, was a Cub Scout Leader, and an Indian Guides Leader. Later in life, Kurt was a proud and enthusiastic ESL teacher, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Literacy Council of Norristown, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindy Geisert; three loving children, Scot S. Geisert, Megan M. Perlleshi and husband Arben, and Kelsey A. Geisert; two adoring grandsons, James I. Perlleshi and Lukas A. Perlleshi; two sisters, Virginia Fitzpatrick and Pamela Cressman; and many nieces and nephews.
Kurt was born August 5, 1947 to the late Leslie and Virginia Bave Geisert.
In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by four sisters, Barbara, Marlene, Doris, and Gretchen.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the family home on Oak Island.
Memorial contributions in Kurt's memory may be made to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
