Larry was born on August 26, 1940, son of the late, William and Gertrude Overaker and was a resident of Southport, North Carolina. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Larry worked for Piedmont Electric for 53 years until his second retirement, restoring electric to millions of people. He was an avid fisherman. Larry loved and adored his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Renee Overaker; five grandchildren, Kari Overaker, David Overaker, Mark Overaker, Mallory Walker and husband Matthew, and Trevor Cecil and wife Holly; three great-granddaughters, Bryanna Yarborough, Braylin Overaker, and Layla Whitaker; sisters, Peggy Berryhill and her husband Lee, Judy McGhee, and Phyllis Ross and her husband George.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Helen Dezern Overaker; his son, Robert Overaker; a granddaughter, Sara Overaker; and brothers Ronald and Thomas Overaker.
To honor Larry's wishes, the family will not be holding any services.
