
Letha was born June 29, 1921 to the late Jesse Colon and Laura Hardee Anderson in Horry County SC. She was one of thirteen children. Letha was a graduate of Southport High School. She was one of the oldest members of Bethel Baptist Church in Southport. She loved her Lord and Saviour, her family and friends. Letha enjoyed meeting and talking to people. She and her late husband Hugh Ford Spencer owned and operated Hugh's Service Station at the corner of Jabbertown Road and Sawdust Trail for over 25 years.
Survivors include her two sons; Hugh Edwin Spencer and wife Sheila, and Elliott Spencer and wife Ramona; four grandchildren Monica Spencer Stone, Laura Aileen Spencer, Kristen Hatcher and husband James, and Brian Spencer and wife Tracy; and three great-grandchildren Maggie Britt Stone, Ava Spencer, and Jack Spencer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 2:00 at Peacock Newnam and White Chapel in Southport. Burial will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
