May 8, 1936 – March 3, 2018
Libby Laine Caster Sarner, left this earthly life March 3rd, 2018 to rest eternally with Christ Jesus after a courageous 15 year battle with chronic health issues.
Born May 8, 1936 in Salisbury, NC to the late Craig M. Caster Sr. & Mittie Irene Whitaker Caster. Libby moved to the Southport area as a child with her family. Libby continued to blaze her own trail, and lived by her own terms and set her own rules long before it was an “in” thing to do!
Always filled with a story and an opinion, she loved her family immensely, and pulled for the underdog in every situation. She will be remembered for her wonderful southern cooking, love of a great book, incredibly strong will, as well as her amazing green thumb. Libby owned and operated Wee World Child Day Care for 13 years, where she had the privilege of caring for so many Southport children.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years, Terry Sarner of Southport, NC; her brother Craig M. Caster, Jr (Gail), her four children Donald Spencer (Madeline), Derek Spencer (Susan), Patti Laine Erkes (Axel), Jason Caster Sarner (Aslıhan); Nine grandchildren, Jeremy Spencer (Kelly), Jennifer Spencer, Jonathan Sarner (Melissa), Julia Sarner, Rachel Laine Erkes, Amy Erkes, Alexis Libby Lee Sarner, Caleb Sarner and Jasmin Sarner. Patti, I am so sorry to read of the passing of your Mom. What a pretty lady and such a nice write up about her. Having lost my Mom recently I know the pain you are feeling. Time will help. Thinking of you.

Libby is going to be missed very much. When I first met her I just knew she was very strong willed and devoted to her children. She loved life and loved sharing her thoughts and stories. She was a very interesting person to me. She touched me in a special way. I am going to miss visiting her and enjoying the holidays. She was very loved by her children and husband, also her grandkids. It's not going to be the same without her. With deepest sympathy.
