By far the story that I have told the most that dates back to my high school years at Laurel School where I met Margot is this one. In 1959 I was sixteen years old and my father bought me a car so that I could drive myself to and from school from Novelty, Ohio where we lived. It was the most fantastic car on the road; a Chevrolet Impala convertible with a white exterior and red interior. That was the year the rear-fins and lights resembled cats-eyes. I remember very clearly driving my friends around Lyman Circle after school. Unlike typical teen age girls of that era, my friends and I pondered a name for my new car and we came up with SuMaLi Pastro. That name was made up from the first two letters of my first name plus those of my two best friends and the first two letters of our three last names; Susan Pastorelle, Margot Stanton, and Linda Root.
Margot and I lost contact with each other for many years after we graduated from Laurel in 1960, but I am so very thankful that we resumed our friendship several years prior to our 50th class reunion, which we both attended with our spouses. I will miss our yearly letters a lot as well as our occasional get-togethers. Chuck and I are so sorry for you loss, Bill and family. I was not prepared to have you gone so soon, Margot. I will greatly miss not being with you at our 60th reunion. Rest in Peace, good friend.
