Marie Bertrand, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loving friend found her place in heaven on November 15, 2021 with her family at her side. Presently living in Southport NC, she was born in Nanticoke, PA on November 11, 1933.

She married Harold, the love of her life and best friend 48 years ago. Together they raised their family and enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie will be greatly missed by all those who took the time to get to know and love her. Marie was an avid volunteer for multiple charities and truly enjoyed giving back to the many that helped her in her younger life. Her family wishes her a peaceful and well deserved rest; job well done Mom.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Donations can be made to the following in her memory; Saint Peter Evangelical Church, 4843 Southport-Supply Rd. SE, Southport NC; or Community Hospice, 497 Olde Waterford Way # 208, Belville, NC 28451; or to the charity of your choice.

I met Marie & Harold at St. Gerardโ€™s church in Aiken, SC. They were such a loving couple and I enjoyed getting to know them. Both were the kind of people that worked in the church helping when & where they could. Marie talked a lot about her family that she loved so much. She & Harold were like peas in a pod & it made me smile to see. When they were together you could see the love that they had for each other. My prayers & condolences go out to Harold & the family.๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’

We were sorry to hear of Marie's passing.
Over the years we shared a lot of events together. We enjoyed our dance lessons, concerts, swimming at the Reserve Club. We are sad that those days are gone with Marie's passing.
To Harold and family, we extend our sincere condolence.

Grandmother, no words could ever describe how much I miss you. So many memories that I will never forget. The dimples in your face I now see in my own daughter. Your sense of humor, funny side glances, and ridiculous sayings. There was never, ever a dull moment with you. I am forever grateful to be your granddaughter. Thank you for being strong, determined, beautiful, and for teaching all of us to do the same. You are forever in my heart. I love you.

Although I know Grandma is in a better place, saying goodbye is never easy. I am forever blessed to have beautiful memories and will cherish them always.

Marie and her husband, Harold, were wonderful volunteers at Our Lady of the Valley Center in Gloverville, SC. Marie was always ready to provide food for the needy and coordinate the food pantry. She truly did God's work. May she rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
