Marie Hinton Conway

Mrs. Conway was born July 23, 1927 the daughter of the late John Lee Hinton and Lessie Morgan Hinton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island and had formerly been a member of Newmarket Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. Mrs. Conway had worked for many years in retail and retired from the shipyard in Newport News. She was preceded in death by her husband William M. “Google” Conway; a son Russell Conway; an infant son; and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter Joan Carter and husband Rev. Charlie Carter of Oak Island; two grandchildren, Jessica Elias and husband Joey, and Rev. Matthew Carter and wife Anna; six great-grandchildren, a niece Christy Wilder and husband John, and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island with Rev. Charlie Carter and Rev. Matthew Carter officiating. The family will have visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery in Newport News, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Oak Island, 4608 East Oak Island Drive, Oak Island, North Carolina 28465.
