Mrs. Fontana was born June 10, 1925 in Queens, New York the daughter of the late John and Theresa Gildea. She was an artist who enjoyed painting; and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Fontana was preceded in death by her husband Martin Fontana, Jr.; a son James Fontana; and four brothers.
Surviving is her son Martin Fontana, III of Caswell Beach, a daughter Mary Lynn Rizzo and husband Joe of Vermont; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Doug Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cape Fear Memorial Park Cemetery.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Service Chapel.
