

Mary was born in Benson, NC to Harvey Godwin and Harriet Johnson Godwin. Mary was the eighth of ten children survived by her loving sister, Jacqueline McKee of Wilmington, NC.
She will be reunited with her loving husband of 65 years, Grant A. Gray.
Mary and Grant raised their four boys in Melrose, Massachusetts. They resided in Melrose for 54 years then in 2007 relocated to Boiling Spring Lakes, NC to be closer to her sisters.
Her sons are R. Douglas Gray and his wife Valerie Thorp of Virginia, Robert Gray and his wife Leslie of Southport, NC, Ronald Gray of Milton, Ma. and Randall Gray of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC.
Her grandchildren are Jason Gray and his wife Meagan of Winterville, NC Jessica Gray Cloutier and her husband John of Bolivia, NC. Misty Gray of Milton, Ma. Alec Gray of Md. Ellis Gray and his wife Kelly of Wa. Amanda Gray and her partner Matt of Nashua, NH. Tasha Gray of Davenport, Fl and Grant Gray of Davenport, Fl. Her great grandchildren are Noah Gray and his wife Mary of Marietta, Ga.Asher Gray and his wife Debbie of Winston-Salem, NC. Hannah Gray of Winterville, NC and Dustin Greenlaw of Bolivia, NC. Her great great grandchildren are Naomi and Rose Gray of Marietta, Ga. and Lucas Gray of Winston-Salem, NC. Cameron and Auston Gray of Milton, Ma. Mary has many nieces and nephews around North Carolina and Virginia.
Mary and Grant were a spiritual couple and were active in the First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes.
Mary will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Cape Fear Memorial Park. There will be a graveside service on Saturday March 14, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by a fellowship gathering at the First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes. All are welcome to come and remember Mary.
