Nellie was born in Brunswick County on April 19, 1958 and was the daughter of the late Charles Norman Simmons and Lucy Eversole Simmons. Nellie enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart and visiting the farmers market and sitting by the pool.
She is survived by a daughter, Tanya Baumgardner of Bolivia, a special daughter, Destiny Cheers of Bolivia; her soul mate, Wallace Spears of Bolivia; three grandchildren, Brandon, Barry and Matthew; and special granddaughters, Rhea and Randa; two brothers, Dean Simmons of Bolivia, Charles Simmons of Supply; a sister, Norma Baker of Selma, NC; a special niece, Stephanie McDonald of Four Oaks, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 in the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel 1411 N. Howe St. Southport, NC 28461.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to the service.
