Phil was a highly decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard from 1964 – 2006. He participated in several important operations and campaigns, including Desert Storm. During his military career, he was exposed to a multitude of health risks that included exposure to airborne toxins, which contributed to advanced breathing issues, and ultimately cancer.
Phil was a State of Maine Department of Transportation employee for 30 years, working in the Survey and Right of Way Divisions.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and stepfather Irvin Braden.
Many thanks to the clinicians affiliated with Zimmer Cancer Center and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Wilmington, NC, as well as Phil’s immediate family, friends and guard buddies.
Phil requested no official funeral services. The family plans to honor Phil by creating a celebration-of-life garden as his final resting place at his home in Boiling Spring Lakes. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to the living garden memorial via PayPal ([email protected]) or various other resources. Please contact Mary directly with any specific questions/concerns.
