OBITUARY
Richard William Penci
December 7, 1970 – August 15, 2020

IN THE CARE OF
Peacock, Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service
On August 15, 2020 Rich Penci sat down in his easy chair and allowed his heart to stop beating. We hope, and believe, that he saw his light come shining from the West down to the East and figured that was the day he would be released. He didn’t welcome death but he didn’t fight it. He took the end of life, as he had taken the almost 50 years before, as it came with acceptance and awe.
Rich in chronological years was 49 plus years old. But his soul was as young, innocent, and exuberant as it was at his birth. That is what his friends and family will remember. He was known as the kind of person who, as an Eagle Scout, could be counted on to do his best to help others at all times. When you were moving he was there lifting boxes. When you were sad he was there to cheer you on. When the man across the street needed help with his yard work, Rich was there with a rake in hand.
Rich and Trish became a couple many long years ago. Together they traveled the hills and valleys of time as a team. Even though their dear, beautiful son, Will, no longer walks this Earth the couple will always be remembered as Will’s crazy, loving parents. He was their world.
Rich will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched with his wit, charm, and genuine goodness. We will miss him mightily but forever remember his presence in our lives. He was a good man and, most uniquely he was forever and always a good kid, too.
He is proceeded in death by his son, William; his father, Louis; and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Trish; his mother, Diane; his sister, Adele Gurley (Billy), and more than 20 nieces and nephews. Rich was a Professional Land Surveyor, obtaining his license in 2012. He was very proud of his profession, as he followed in his father’s footsteps.
Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul.
