Ronald Eugene Kirby

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Ron was the son of the late Mary Lou Treadway and William H. Kirby Sr. A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he continued his career as a longshoreman, where he worked hard until his retirement.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sally Kirby, and their son Michael.

He spent his final years in the care of his granddaughter, Morgan Wheeler, with whom he shared a close and cherished bond.

He is survived by his brother, William H Kirby Jr (Cathy), sister in law, Lena Fisher, son, Terry (Pamela) Kirby, and daughter, Tina Swigert. He was a devoted grandfather to Terra, Brittney, Aleisha, Michael, Morgan, Mary Ann, TJ, Bella, and a proud great-grandfather to many.

Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep wisdom, and the steady presence he brought to every room. He always had a saying, a lesson, or a few simple words that somehow made things clearer — his wisdom was a gift to all who knew him.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025 in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Northwood Cemetery.
