

Ron was born January 6, 1947, son of the late Alcon and Inez Hamilton. Ron was full of joy and loved his Lord and his family. He had pastored Fellowship Wesleyan Church in Iva, South Carolina and Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church in Asheboro, North Carolina until his retirement. After his retirement, he pastored The Community Church of Brunswick in Southport, North Carolina. Ron had served as a Chaplain in different capacities for many years. He genuinely loved people and cared for them. Ron had a great personality, he was a charmer who always made everyone laugh and feel special. He enjoyed golfing, watching old movies, great food, and walking on the beach until his health declined.
Ron received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Wesleyan College May 6, 1979; a Masters of Bible Theology from International Bible Institute and Seminary, on February 15, 1988; and a Doctor of Ministry from University of Biblical Studies, December 12, 1990. Ron was a recipient of Outstanding Young Men of America in 1982, received the Order of Kentucky Colonels on May 5, 1994, received the Charles E. Apple Legacy Award on August 1, 2007, and Distinguished Service Award from the Wesleyan Church on June 26, 2011; along with many other achievements and recognitions.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Allred; a daughter, Veronica Hamilton Grant and husband Michael of Lexington, North Carolina; a step-son, David Allred; a brother, Allen Hamilton; a step-granddaughter, Taytin Allred; several nieces and nephews; and grandpuppy, Laney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Brown Hamilton; two sisters, Ann Thompson and Lucy Hall; and two brothers, Vaughan Hamilton and Roger Hamilton.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Frank Brock officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am-11am prior to the service.
A graveside service and committal will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 1928 N Fayetteville St, Asheboro, NC 27203 with Reverend David Surrett officiating.
