Ruby Piland Hollowell, 64, of Southport, formerly of Tyner, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Ruby was born September 2, 1955, daughter of Vertie Blanchard and the late Rube Franklin Piland, Jr. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. Before moving to Southport, she was a teacher at Stokes Elementary School in Stokes, North Carolina where she adored all her students. In Ruby's spare time, she loved walking on the beach, watching sunrises and sunsets with her family, and collecting seashells. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Hunter Blanchard, and fiancé' George Benjamin Dunn.

Survivors include her mother, Vertie Blanchard of Tyner, North Carolina; daughter, Stephanie Adams and husband Jason of Southport, North Carolina; father of her daughter, Barry Hollowell; siblings, Rube Blanchard and wife Desiree' and Pam Perry and husband Johnny; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Devin Hilsenbeck, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A sunset memorial service will be held at 6:00pm, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the home of Carroll and Daisy Perry in Tyner, North Carolina. Following the service, the family will gather at the home of Vertie Blanchard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to SECU Hospice of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, North Carolina 28422.

Love, hugs, and prayers from all of the Dunn Family. Ruby was dad's love and they shared many years together. Now they can be reunited in Heaven and spend eternity together without pain and suffering. Her love and dedication to Dad will never be forgotten by us.
