Sadonie "Donnie" Kirby

Donnie was born February 18, 1935, daughter of the late Thomas de Vaux Fredericks and Ragnhild Tora Larsen Fredericks. She attended Hunter College and Fairleigh Dickinson College. Donnie was a devoted librarian at Southport Elementary School with Faye Middleton for many years. She enjoyed tennis, swimming, gardening, horseback riding, and collecting seashells.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen de Vaux Jones; a step-son, Wesley Kirby; four grandchildren, Kendall Evan Jones, Krystal de Vaux Jones, Kennan Scott Jones, and Kaylyn de Vaux Jones; two step-grandchildren, Carl McKellen Kirby and Gabriella Kirby; two great-grandchildren, Langston Allen Jones and Larsen de Vaux Jones; cousins, Suzan Van Handel, Justine Lerch, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Carl “Moe” Mumford Kirby, Jr.; a daughter, Kimberly de Vaux Jones; and a brother, Thomas Fredericks.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025 in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
