She was born in Westminster Maryland to Harry and Ethel Greenholtz on August 3rd 1924. Being the youngest of four sisters and one brother, she was essentially raised by her oldest sister.
After graduating from high school in Westminster, she moved to Baltimore to seek employment. She ended up working at the Glen L. Martin Company and worked her way up to become an inspector on the B24 aircraft being produced for WWII.
This is where she met the love of her life and future husband, John Neuner, Jr. a Navy Engineer serving at the Glen L. Martin Company during the war. In the years following their marriage in March 1945, they had two children, John Neuner, III and Barbara (BJ) Payne.
Following her husband’s death in 1991, Stella reluctantly moved from her long time home in Baltimore to Southport, NC in 2008. Southport turned out to be the perfect place for her to start a new phase of her life, make new and dear friends, and for her routine outings to the Dosher Hospital Thrift shop, exercise classes, and her treasured “junk” stores. At age 94, she was totally delighted when her Driver’s License was renewed to age 98. During her years in Southport, many friends, neighbors, and local merchants were always kind to her.
She is survived by John and Connie Neuner, III, living in St. James, NC, and Barbara Payne and Dick Vondran, living in Longwood, FL. She was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren and ten wonderful great grandchildren.
We all love her and will miss her forevermore …
A celebration of her life is being planned by her family and will take place at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.peacocknewnamwhite.com for the Neuner family.
