He was born in Petersburg, West Virginia, on June 2, 1948, to the late H. Garth Bodkin Sr. and Ruth Lambert Bodkin. At a young age, Steve and his family moved to Norwalk, Ohio, where they lived for a few years before settling in Massachusetts. Steve was a remarkable football quarterback and baseball second baseman at Framingham South High School, where he graduated in 1967. After completing rigorous training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, Steve proudly served for three years in the United States Marine Corps. Steve worked for the United States Postal Service in Marlborough for an impressive 42 years before retiring in 2025.
Steve had a gift for brightening any room by telling stories from his past. Generous and kind-hearted, he always went above and beyond to help others, especially those who needed it the most. In his free time, he found joy in playing golf, fishing, and savoring meals with his loved ones.
Steve is survived by his son, Douglas Bodkin of Boston, MA, Karen Bodkin of Marlborough, MA, his sister, Debra Cullen, and her husband, Michael Cullen, of Southport, NC, his sister-in-law, Kerry Reynells, of Morriston, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve is predeceased by his brother, H. Garth Bodkin Jr. of Morriston, FL.
A celebration of life for Steve will be held at a later date in Massachusetts.
