It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Susie Alice (Cooper) Viscarra announce her peaceful passing on April 2, 2026, in Southport, NC, at the age of 85 next to her beloved husband of over 65 years, Jose (Joe) Luis Viscarra.
She was born on March 21, 1941, in Conway, SC. A year after her graduation from Conway High School, she and Joe married on June 10, 1960, and raised their family in Baltimore, MD. To be closer to her family, the couple retired to Calabash, NC, many years ago. Their life together was filled with love, family, travel, and happiness.
Susie’s sweet, loving, and beautiful nature will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all others who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe; her three children, Michael Viscarra of Timonium, MD, Steve Viscarra (Gail) of Bolivia, NC, and Susanne Viscarra of Murrells Inlet, SC; her stepson, Morris Prevatte (Tina); four of her six siblings; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
