Warren Holland was born in Concord, North Carolina, the son of William (Bill) and Carol Holland. After graduating high school, he served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, retiring in 2013 as a counselor at the Edgefield, South Carolina facility. Upon retirement, Warren devoted himself to caring for his aging mother, ensuring she could remain safe and supported as her health declined.
Warren had a deep sense of adventure and lived in many places throughout his life — including California, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Arkansas. While stationed in South Korea with the Air Force, he met his first wife, Min, and together they welcomed their daughter, Won. Warren and Min were married for over 20 years, and he always held a fondness for her spicy Korean cooking, especially her kimchi.
Warren embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He pursued a wide array of hobbies and interests over the years: showing Boxer dogs in competitions across North America, homebrewing beer, raising a miniature horse and chickens, tending a 75-gallon fish tank, and casting a line from a boat to enjoy the peace of fishing. He loved the R.A. Salvatore series, and spent countless joyful hours playing PC and video games like EverQuest and World of Warcraft. He also had a soft spot for Westerns, Sylvester Stallone movies, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox.
He adored animals and shared a deep bond with his pets — most notably his beloved Great Dane, Devo, affectionately nicknamed "Na Na Moo Moo." Warren had a warm, playful sense of humor, and could put others at ease with his easygoing nature and kind presence.
A lifelong fitness enthusiast, Warren loved weightlifting — often calling his workouts “beast mode” — and jogged regularly, even during the sweltering South Carolina summers. He drew strength from the sunshine and resilience from life’s challenges, including a successful battle with cancer. His perseverance and inner strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In 2014, Warren married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Terry. The couple had recently moved into his dream beach home — a testament to a life lived fully. Warren was a devoted husband and father who consistently put his family first. He will be remembered as a steady source of strength, comfort, and light. He is deeply missed and lovingly remembered. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Holland; daughters Won Howell and Kim Holland; grandchild Chandler Howell; and former wife Min Holland. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Scottie Harper, Anne-Marie Harper, and Seth Harper; and his brothers, William Holland and James Holland.
