Bill was born February 8, 1950 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Charles and Wilma Chalkley. He retired from Raytheon in 2015 after 35 years of service. He had played football in high school and at Ferrum College. Bill was an avid Redskins and Washington Capitals fan. He enjoyed the beach, family, fishing, gardening, birds, and canoeing the Shenandoah River.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Leslie Chalkley, daughter Rachel Chalkley, his cat Stripes, ex-wife Brenda Chalkley, their son Erik Chalkley; his favorite sister Mary Wolfe and her husband Dennis, nephew Jesse Wolfe, nieces Ashleigh Burbidge, and Kari Wolfe; a sister-in-law Lauren Egan, nephew Connor Egan, niece Aileen Egan and brother-in-law Brian Greene.
A celebration of life service will be held in Annandale, Virginia at a later date.
Bill was well loved, he will be missed by all who knew him. When you think of Bill, don’t think of him as passing away, think of him of riding off into the sunset on his beloved Harley Davidson.
