David, I am heartbroken to learn of Anne's passing. 
I recall so many fun times with you and Ann back in the UF Law School days. For many years after graduation you came to UF Homecomings, making the trek from South Florida to Gainesville to gather with friends and enjoy the parade, barbeque in the park and often lasagna at the Nickersons. Our children were little then and those were great family times. I remember Anne's warm embrace as soon as she arrived and I admired how she always dressed with style. Although our in-person contacts lessened in the intervening years, Ann stayed in my heart. I remember her focused way of speaking and listening directly to me. I admired Ann's strength and intellect, her capacity to get things done, her dignity, and her strong devotion to you, David, and Jason, and Dara.   Love, Kay Walker

I wish there were words for this loss  of an incredible woman.   

Ann was the bright light we all aspire to be: she was  kind, open minded, and fiercely protective of her family, their friends and her beliefs.

She will be mourned by many.  can only hope her memory will be a blessing and being comfort to all of us.   

My love to her family - who in time, became my family.   They each hold real estate in my heart. 

Illness is keeping me home today, but please know my prayers are with all of you at this time.  

Words feel insufficient at times like these and when trying to describe an extraordinary person, like Ann. Allow our presence and our silence to express what words alone cannot. Please know that we care and that we are standing by your side in love and support as you begin this journey. 

Our lives have been enriched by knowing Ann and the Schottenfelds. At home and at work, Ann was a Rockstar. She was the savior who kept them all together. The Schottenfelds had a rare family bond that is to be envied. Ann was David's sweetheart, and he was hers. They were a happy couple who lived and worked together amicably, as did the rest of the family, including daughter Dara and sister Nancy. Their love for each other was indescribable. That love was especially clear when she became ill. David's first concern was to be at her side and make sure she was well cared for; everyone and everything else was secondary to his Beloved Ann. David personally provided most of her care.

Ann was a stunning woman in every way; she was warm, gracious, honest, genuine, strong, and an all-around nice person who will be dearly missed.

May Ann's love, laughter and legacy bring you joy and put a smile on your faces...
