Donald Theodore Siegel, 78, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Miami, Florida. Born on May 1, 1947, in Brookline, Massachusetts, to David and Roslyn Siegel, Donald was known for his kindness, quick witted sense of humor, his love of travel and a delicious meal, having fun with his wife and children, fluffernutter sandwiches and collecting classic and modern movies.
He graduated from Babson College with a business degree and went on to have a long and fulfilling career as an entrepreneur. Beyond his professional life, Donald was passionate about the Miami Dolphins Football Team, going to dog shows, traveling to Europe and all of the US state capitals, as well as his backyard garden where he raised butterflies to be released with his wife and daughter.
His greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Harriet; his children, Jeffrey (Sharon), Daniel (Terri), and Jill; his grandchildren Jonah and Joshua, and adopted grandson Brett Parker. His brothers, Richard (Diana) and Franklin (Liz), and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his older brother Norman and his parents and in-laws.
Donald and his wife Harriet loved to have fun together and he generously shared his joy with their family and friends. They were always ready for the next adventure, whether it was a destination to travel to or trying out a new local restaurant in their neighborhood. Before Google Maps, Donald could be found at AAA printing out a trip tick map for their next road trip, analyzing which tourist spot to visit or discovering where the locals suggested people would get the best food or desserts.
During Harriet’s years of living with Alzheimer’s, Donald’s steadfast care and devotion—supported by their daughter Jill and the rest of the family— reflected a profound and enduring love that lasted until the very end. A light has truly gone out in the world. May his memory be a blessing.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 28th at 2:00p.m. at Menorah Gardens and Funeral Chapels at 21100 West Griffin Road, Southwest Ranches, FL 33332. Burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice, in memory of Donald Siegel.
