In the distant 1983, living in Tashkent, I was taken to the Krupskaya clinic (bone tuberculosis sanatorium) with a spinal displacement. The chief physician of this clinic was Eduard's father, and Eduard himself, still young, worked as a doctor. This clinic mainly treated children for several years. The reason for this was problems with the bones of the limbs, which were cut out, fused, and then slowly pulled out with the Elizarov apparatus. I don't know how many such clinics there were in the Soviet Union, but this one in Tashkent was one of the best, thanks to the Kaplan dynasty. Please accept my condolences.

We were heartbroken to hear about Eduard’s passing. Please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

Your family has always been in our thoughts with warmth and respect, and we are truly saddened by this loss. We remember Emily and Rachel from when they were so little, and our hearts go out to you and the girls during this incredibly difficult time.

Even though we have lost someone special, their memory stays in our heart with the good moments we shared. We will remember Ed with love and joy, keeping his memory alive always.

Many years ago, when I first started working as a surgical assistant at MSMC, Ed was already very experienced in the subject. How can I forget my first surgical experiences alongside Ed, especially in the field of neurosurgery. I only have words of gratitude and respect for our dear Ed. No doubt his loss will leave an enormous void in the department, something that will be difficult to fill. 

Rest in peace, dear Ed. My condolences to all of your loved ones.

Ed and I have worked in a close collaboration for decades . Over thousands of hours  together in the O.R., Ed has been my wise teacher about every subject from history to music to politics to fine points of Neurosurgical technique. He always kept me securely grounded to reality.

I say to Olga and family, I stand with you in mourning the loss of our beloved Eddie.

That’s how we will always remember you with your best teammates. You are a very special character with an immense heart and dedication that is unseen these days. You will be missed. We will remember you. And we will honor your sacrifice and incredible contribution to the world. Rest in peace Eddi.
