Thomas Daniel Garvey

Thomas Daniel Garvey, age 66, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2026. Husband of Eve Garvey; loving father to Gabrielle and Shane Garvey; dear son-in-law to Jerry (z’’l) and Lana Lieberman; beloved brother to Annie (z’’l) and brother-in-law to Greg Hnilicka, Adam and Sally Lieberman; adored uncle to Tony and Kayla Hnilicka, Anna and Emma Lieberman; great-uncle to Reese, Cora Anne, and Alton Hnilicka.

Tom was born on February 28, 1960, in Peoria, Illinois to Francis Joseph and Mary Judeen (Kane) Garvey. Peoria was home to his earliest friendships and many of the stories he carried throughout his life. He delivered newspapers, played Little League, attended Illinois State University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He proudly served in the Illinois Air National Guard, where he reached the rank of Technical Sergeant and received an Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer Award. His military service remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

Tom built a career in IT support and facilities operations at Network World. Eve and Tom would soon marry before moving to Florida.

In 2000, Eve and Tom built a house in Lake Worth, where they raised their two children.

For more than 16 years, Tom worked for Kelley Kronenberg in Fort Lauderdale, supporting employees across multiple offices as a senior IT technician and facilities director. He was loyal, hardworking, and always the “go to” guy.

Tom loved all things New England and Packers sports, food, technology, family history, and all kinds of music. He was curious, funny, generous, opinionated, and always engaged with the people around him. Friends will remember his devilish smile, his outlandish dancing, and the way he could talk to almost anyone about anything. He loved to greet people with “What’s new and fun?”

Tom was a member of Temple Beth El and later Temple Shaarei Shalom. In 2019, he was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia, a progressive disease, after surviving cancer years earlier. Torah study became an important source of strength and connection for him. And, you could always find him digging into his family roots, tracing his lineage to the 1600’s!

Despite everything his disease took from him, he always maintained his glass half-full attitude. Even during the hardest years of his illness, when asked how he was, he would answer with “I’m good!”. He was cared for with great dedication by his family and by many caregivers, nurses, aides, therapists, physicians, and hospice professionals.

Funeral services will be held at Menorah Gardens & Funeral Chapels, 21100 West Griffin Road, Southwest Ranches, FL 3332, on September 23, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial services will follow.
