Sparta, NJ – Barbara A. Lewis (Flynn), 63, passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2013. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Barbara touched in so many ways throughout her memorable life.
Barbara was born in Staten Island, NY to Stephen and Ellen Flynn and resided there until 1970 when she moved to Bloomfield, NJ to start her family. In 1993 she moved to Sparta, NJ where she resided the remainder of her life. Barbara was a graduate of the Grace Downs Model and Air Career School in New York, NY. She was a teacher at the Barbizon School of Modeling in Montclair, NJ for 15 years. She was employed for the last 17 years as a senior healthcare nurse at Knoll View in Sparta. She was an active member of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish.
Barbara was predeceased by her father Stephen Flynn, her mother Ellen Flynn, and her brother Gregory Flynn. She is survived by her brother; Stephen Flynn and his wife June of Branchville, her sister; Christine Podell of Lords Valley, PA, and her three sons; Bryan Lewis and his wife Maria, Kevin Lewis and his wife Chenoah, and Jonathan Lewis, all of Sparta. Her memory lives on with her six beloved grandchildren: Amanda, Jamie, Courtney, Tyler, Jake, and Jameson.
Barbara enjoyed traveling, gardening, water skiing, summers in LBI and an early cocktail with friends, but nothing compared to spending every extra minute she had with her grandchildren. Barbara’s life and the impact she had on others cannot be described in words on this piece of paper. For those fortunate enough to have been loved by her, will forever be better for it. XO
Friends may call Monday, March 18, 2013 from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St. Sparta. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Kateri, 427 Stanhope Rd. Sparta on Tuesday at 10am.
