Barbara Murphy Gabat, 78, of Lakewood, NJ, formerly of Hoboken, NJ, passed away on February 12, 2018. Barbara worked as a secretary in various positions, the last being at the Sheraton Hotel, in New York City. In her spare time, Barbara was an avid reader. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Dorothea and Michael Carmody, five sisters: Dorothea Farrell, Lorriane Considine, Joan Zambardino, Jane Barrett, Carolyn Carmody and her brother Michael Carmody. She is survived by her beloved husband Alex Gabat; devoted sisters: Patricia Barker of Sparta, NJ and Jacqueline Carmody of Hoboken, NJ. Barbara is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday, 5-8pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held Friday 11am at the funeral home.
