Bill Bayliss

Bill was born in Groton, Conn. and grew up in Fall River, Mass. He graduated from Durfee High School and went on to earn an associates degree in electrical engineering at Wentworth Institute in Boston, Mass.

Moving to New Jersey after graduation he worked for New Jersey Bell for 27 years, taking an early retirement, then went on to work for the County of Morris as an IT Mgr. for 17 years.

Bill met Marianne his wife on a blind date July 4th, 1966, set up by his sister. They married in August 1968 and moved to Sparta in 1971 where they spent over 50 wonderful years and raising their two sons, Peter, and Andrew. Bill was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother Walter. Bill is survived by his wife Marianne, sons Peter and wife Lisa, Andrew, and wife Rosie, grandchildren Luna, Taishi, Nate and Josie, Sister Pat, brothers Tom and wife Pam, Michael, and wife Linda and 6 nieces. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Bill loved living and boating on Lake Mohawk and vacationing in Lake George with his good friends Kathie and Craig. He also enjoyed his breakfasts at the Sparta Diner with his Romeo’s (Retired Old Men Eating Out!) Joe, Jerry, Tom, and Dave. His biggest passion was his beloved Boston Red Sox with The New England Patriots a close second. He hardly ever missed watching their games especially with his sons.

Visiting will be held from 3pm-7pm on Friday, March 11 at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871.
