Claude Pierre Hohne, 76, of the Lake Mohawk section of Sparta, NJ passed away on May 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Claude was an exceptional man in every way. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had an enthusiasm and vibrance for life that resided deep in his soul and was infectious to all who were blessed to be a part of his life.
Despite the unimaginable hardship of losing both of his parents at a defining and innocent young age, Claude was placed with his only sister, Margaret, into an orphanage in France for three years. How can anyone imagine what those years of his life must have been like for him? Yet it was evident to all who knew Claude over his lifetime; that the painful earlier years of his life would never prevent him from becoming the wonderful man he actually became.
Claude chose to be a role model in every way possible. He has always been a gentleman, who demonstrated through his own actions how important it was to appreciate the gifts of life. He taught us all how to be better individuals through love, commitment, humor, endearment, hard work and never to give up no matter what hand you are dealt.
In his last moments of life while surrounded by family and friends, Claude lay in his hospital bed, in excruciating pain, and whispered the words ‘ Life is Good ‘. Claude is loved by so many and will be missed beyond words.
Claude is survived by his beloved wife Noreen Beierle Hohne; devoted father of Roger and his partner Jacqueline Rento and Michele Rosenthal and her husband Lawrence. He is also survived by his sisters: Margaret, Anne, and Debbie and brothers: Bill and Jack and loving grandchildren: Zoe, Miles, Ella Pierre, Justin, Shaun Claude, and Ryan. Friends may gather for remembrances on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 4-8pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 11am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: Fraternal Order of Police, Spartan Lodge #26, PO Box 748 , Sparta, NJ 07871-0748.
