David C. Burdett

Born in Pompton Plains, NJ, Dave was a longtime resident of West Milford before making his home in Branchville. He most recently worked in the Public Works Department for Cedar Grove Township, where he was known for his dedication and willingness to help others.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Terri Burdett (Meeker), with whom he shared countless adventures and deep, unwavering love. He leaves behind his cherished children: Shannon Knowlton (Burdett) and her husband Eric, and their son Robert of Sparta, NJ; his son, David J. “D.J.” Burdett of Conway, SC; and his daughter, Jenna Burdett of Branchville, NJ. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Burdett, and his wife Charlotte of Oak Ridge, NJ, and his sister, Karen Kocher (Burdett), along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who adored him.

Dave lived life with joy and curiosity. He was a small plane pilot, loved riding his motorcycle, and found happiness in the simple moments spent with the people he loved. He treasured weekend drives with Terri, exploring new photography spots with Jenna, long conversations with D.J. during his work drives, and quiet evenings on the porch with his daughter Shannon, filled with laughter and heartfelt conversations. Above all, the greatest joy of Dave’s life was his grandson, Robert, whom he loved more than life itself.

Known for his loyalty, Dave was the kind of person who would do anything for his family or friends. He was always ready to jump in and help, whether it was putting in new lights, renovating a bathroom, or building his grandson’s swing set. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the people he loved, and his generosity and devotion left a lasting mark on everyone around him.

His legacy is one of love, laughter, loyalty, and family. He will be remembered for his warm heart, adventurous spirit, and the deep devotion he showed to those he held dear.
