Donald E. Foth

The son of Frederick and Ruth (Smith) Foth, Don grew up in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1961.

After briefly attending Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey, Don began a long and successful career with State Farm Insurance at its Wayne, New Jersey, Regional Office in 1962. Initially hired as a service clerk, his talents were quickly recognized, and he steadily rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as Section Manager of the Assigned Risk Division for automobile underwriting in New Jersey and New York. In this role, Don also proudly served as a governor-appointed member and chairman of the New Jersey Automobile Insurance Risk Exchange Board for many years. Following his retirement from State Farm in 2006, he continued working for several more years with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance as General Manager of the Risk Exchange Board.

Despite his professional accomplishments, Don's greatest joys came from his family and community. He married the love of his life, Patt, in 1965, and together they raised two sons. After first making their home in Jefferson Township, New Jersey, Don and Patt relocated to a newly built lakefront home in Stockholm, New Jersey, where they lived together for more than 40 years. Don took great pride in their home and enjoyed tackling countless do-it-yourself projects over the years. He also had a deep love for the many dogs the family welcomed into their home, with a particular affinity for basset hounds. Outside the home, Don was a devoted and faithful member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church. In addition to being a longtime parishioner, he selflessly served the congregation in numerous leadership and devotional roles over several decades.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Foth, and his mother, Ruth (Smith) Foth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (McFarland) Foth; his sons, Jeffrey Foth and his wife, Leanne, and Kevin Foth and his wife, Sharon; his cherished grandchildren, Luke, Kathryn, Samuel, and Alex; and his sister, Nancy.

Don will be remembered for his warm and generous spirit, his wry sense of humor, his kindness toward others, and his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
