He was born in Brooklyn NY on April 8, 1940. He graduated Brooklyn Poly Prep Country Day School in 1958, received his BA from Lehigh University in February 1963 and his MBA from Pace University in June 1975. Donald joined the NY Army National Guard in January 1964 as a proud member of the 69th Regiment (Fighting Irish) and remained in the 42nd Infantry Division (Rainbow) until 1982. He then joined the United States Army Reserves, and later was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August 1967. Subsequently, he was promoted to First Lieutenant, Captain, and Major and then retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in the year 2000. Donald served at the Pentagon during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
He was a NYC Welfare Worker, then joined Prudential Insurance Company, American Metals, and The Federal Reserve Bank of NY. He concluded his work history in the computer field from 1977-1994 at Ebasco Engineering Company at the World Trade Center in NYC.
His interests were the American Civil War, college football, swimming, boating, and water and snow skiing. He was a member of Mensa, a life member of the Sparta Historical Society and was active at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, serving as a Welcomer at Sunday Mass.
Donald was married to Marjorie Garzsik Langlinais in 1997.
He was predeceased by his parents, Meta (Thies) and Jack Strohsahl.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie, his step-son Brett Langlinais and wife Wendy of Keller, TX, and their three children, Heather, Zachary and Gavin, and his step-daughter Gabrielle Langlinais of Englewood, CO, and her son Henry. Donald is also survived by his sister Jean Dorr, her husband Jerry and their son Jeffrey and his family. Friends may call Friday, November 23, 2012 from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Saturday at St. Kateri Church, 427 Stanhope Rd., Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
