Dorothy W. Eckweiler

Dorothy was born in Hawley, PA on August 19, 1935. She was the daughter of Adeline (Benjamin) Wuest and Frank E. Wuest. Dorothy was a graduate of Hawley High School and lived in Lords Valley, PA until her marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Eckweiler, on October 6, 1956. They were married for 39 wonderful years until his passing in July of 1995. They moved to Sparta, NJ with their two children in 1960. Dorothy lived in their house for almost 65 years. Dorothy loved her 31 years of employment at Pope John High School.

Left with countless happy memories are her children Carol Sherrier (William) and Bob Eckweiler (Mary Ann) and her grandchildren Stephanie (Greg) Rossi, Caitlin Sherrier, Brianna (Paul) Marino, Robert Eckweiler, and Kathryn (David) Tiedemann. Dorothy was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Arthur in 1952.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was the most loving Mom, Nan and Nanny and a dear friend to many. She was so proud of her family, and we were so blessed to have such a loving and caring woman in our lives.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be celebrated 12:00 PM Friday, July 18 at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 294 S Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment to follow immediately at Sparta Cemetery.

Dorothy took great pleasure in helping the less fortunate. In keeping with her desire, it is requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Samaritan Inn in Newton, NJ by clicking either one of the links below.
