Dorothy Thieke

Dorothy Marie Thieke, 76, of Sparta, NJ passed away on September 3, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Newton Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born in Morristown, NJ and lived in Madison, NJ before moving to Sparta in 1968. She was a graduate of Drew University, class of 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in business. Dorothy worked at the Equitable Life Insurance Company in Manhattan where she met her husband to be. She was an avid gardener, reader and puzzle enthusiast. Dorothy is predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Francis M. Thieke. She is survived by her loving children: John Thieke and his wife Susi of Sparta, Mark Thieke of Independence, NJ, Susan Hamma and her husband Scott of Sparta, and Carol Cervino and her husband Frank of Sparta. Dorothy is also survived by her 3 loving grandchildren: Alex Cervino, Ben Hamma, and Melissa Klein. A funeral service will be held at 10am Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment will follow at St. Thomas of Aquin Cemetery, Ogdensburg, NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
