Elsie Dahlberg

She was born February 26, 1931 in Staten Island, NY. Daughter of the late Arvid and Svea Bjorklund, sister of the late Charles Bjorklund. Elsie grew up on Staten Island and graduated from Port Richmond High School. It was at Port Richmond that she met the love of her life Edward Dahlberg. They met October 19, 1946 at a friends sweet 16 party. Elsie came home that night and told her mother, “I met the man I am going to marry”.

Edward and Elsie were happily married for 66 years. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Edward. Elsie is survived by her children Carolyn Proulx and Edward Dahlberg, her son in law Mark Proulx, her grandchildren Eva and Ella Dahlberg, Mark Davis Proulx and Greg Proulx and her great granddaughter MiRae Davis Proulx. Elsie was a thoughtful friend to all who knew and loved her and a very “classy” lady. She was graceful, kind and always admired for her “style”.

She was an avid Pinochle player and loved cards and board games. She was a good cook and loved entertaining and hosting friends and family for holidays and celebrations. She was a golfer and enjoyed snowmobiling, boating and travel. Her last job, before she retired in 1990, was at Dover Christian Nursing Home, where she made many lasting friendships that carried over into her and Ed’s retirement years. They both enjoyed many fun and adventurous outings and vacations . She and Ed led a very active, full and happy life.

Elsie was always kind, thoughtful, loyal and devoted to her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service for Elsie will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Elsie's name to St. Judes Children's Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
