Enid J. Pritchard, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in Newton, NJ. Born in East Orange, Enid grew up in Millburn and resided in Short Hills for 23 years, before moving to Sparta 25 years ago.
She grew up spending summers at the Jersey Shore, where she developed her love of sailing.
She graduated from Millburn High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1948, where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. In 1949 she married her High School sweetheart, John, with whom she shared a love of the outdoors. They enjoyed many happy family vacations camping in New England and Canada.
She and her husband were congregants of The Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Millburn for many years.
Enid retired in 1988, after 23 years as an Administrative Assistant at The Pingry School, Short Hills Campus.
Over the years, she volunteered for the Girl Scouts, enjoyed bridge, knitting, playing piano and had a passion for crossword puzzles. She will be lovingly remembered for her dedication to her family and positive outlook on life.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John in 1994 and her sister Caryl Law in 2008, Enid will be sincerely missed by her three loving daughters; Lynne Pritchard of Wallingford, CT, Karen Pritchard of Sparta, and Joanne Campbell and her husband Thomas of Culver Lake, NJ, a cherished granddaughter; Erin Campbell, and many devoted nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be celebrated on Sunday from 12-2pm at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
