Henry “Hank” Merz, 60 Lifelong Jefferson Township resident died suddenly on 2/15/13.Hank was born 2/29/52 in Dover, NJ. He was a Boy Scout and altar boy. He graduated from JTHS, was a standout athlete and attended Clemson University. He was previous Captain of the Milton First Aid Squad.Hank was currently employed by JTPD as a 911 dispatcher for Jefferson Township Police Department. He was the owner and operator of HDM Automotive Machine, Dover, NJ for over 25 years.Loving husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, brother and friend. He gave selflessly. His sarcasm and sense of humor will be sorely missed.Hank enjoyed riding and rebuilding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed adventures, trips and camping with his family. Survived by loving wife of 42 years and HS sweetheart, Deborah Tresslar Merz; Daughters: Lori Merz, Kerrie Merz, Janeen Merz Doyle and Amanda Merz Beyus; Grandchildren: Elias, Tryna, Abigael, Kane, Cavan, Lena, Hayden, Fintan, Rhealyn, Neyland, and Graham; Great Grandchild: Elianna; Siblings: William Merz, Kathy Dockray, Patricia Murphy and Suzanne DiBernard.At his request, a celebration of his life will be held on Sunday 2/24/2013, 1-4pm at the American Legion Post 423, 28 Legion Road, Oak Ridge, NJ.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Hank Merz Memorial Fund” and mailed to: PBA Local 190, 1032 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.The Goble Funeral Home, Sparta, NJ is in charge of arrangements. One of the very few I can remember I went to kindergarten thru JTHS with. Learned in kindergarten our birthdays are 2 days apart. A wonderful friend and teammate who obviously has left a tremendous legacy. He will always be remembered.
