Herbert W. Eisenhardt, 79, of Sparta, NJ passed away on January 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. “Ike” was born in New York City and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ, graduated from Bloomfield High School, class of 1955, then attended United Radio and TV school and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He proudly served in the NJ National Guard, 50th Armored Division, 113th Armored Infantry unit, in Jersey City, and the 50th Armored National Guard Band in Elizabeth, NJ. Herbert worked at the Bendix Corp in Teterboro, NJ; Stadium Appliance in Irvington, NJ; Technicon Instruments, Tarrytown, NY; Lockheed Electronics, Plainfield, NJ; Kearfott Guidance and Navigation, Little Falls, NJ; and Newsweek Magazine, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Herb was a giving person who, along with his wife, took their own dogs, Pearl and Rascal, to hospitals, nursing homes and schools to visit. He was kind, generous, loving, considerate, selfless and always willing to help and never held a grudge. He was a devoted husband and father and loved attending his grandchildren’s recitals and sporting events. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Herb was a member of the Bloomfield Civic Band for 40 years; and the Franklin Band for 20 years. Herb was inducted into the Bloomfield Federation Music Hall of Fame. Herb was an avid Mets and Giants fan and was a Giant season ticket holder for over 50 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marie Simon Eisenhardt; father of Christine Boardingham and her husband Brian; Michael Eisenhardt and his wife Sherry; Stephen Eisenhardt and his wife Kelly. Beloved grandfather of: Brendan and Dylan Boardingham, Alyssa, Brooke, Kathleen and Sean Eisenhardt. Friends may call Thursday 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held 10am Friday at St. Kateri Church 427 Stanhope Rd, Sparta, NJ.
