James "Ed" McWhorter

James “Ed” McWhorter, 65, passed away on January 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in New Brunswick, NJ and lived in Plainfield and Westfield before moving to Sparta. He was a graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He was a Mortgage Originator for EMM Financial in Fairfield, NJ for many years. Ed was the president of the Sussex County Billiards League and captain of his team and was known as, “Sweet Captain Ed”. Also he was a longtime member of the Lake Mohawk Golf Club. He was a member of the New Jersey National Guard. Ed is predeceased by his sister Marjorie Jones. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Betty (nee Burse) McWhorter; devoted sister Edla Collora and several nieces and nephews. Friends may gather from 2-4, 7-9pm Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held at 8pm Saturday at the funeral home.
