

James Joseph Ruby, 82, of Manchester, NJ died at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ on June 5, 2010. James was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived there until moving to Sparta in 1978. He was a WWll Navy Veteran. After the war he worked as a policeman for the Port Authority leaving after 23 years in 1977. In 1978 he moved to Sparta, NJ and joined the Sussex County Correctional Facility in Newton, NJ retiring in 1996. James in predeceased by his beloved son Richard. He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria (nee Branna) Ruby; devoted children; Gail Lupo and her husband Chuck; Patricia Gordon and her husband Charlie; Barbara Murray and her husband David; Gloria McDevitt and her husband John; and John Ruby and his wife Laura. James is also survived by his daughter-in-law Maria Ruby and grandchildren: Colette, Kristyn, Meredith, Dana, Jessica, Connor, Gabriel, Micayla, Isabella, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Cayley, Cira, Lucy, and Audrey and his brother Edward J. O’Connell. Friends may call Wednesday, June 9th, from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
