Dear mother of David, Aileen DeVoe (Joe) and Laurie Ellis (Matt), grandmother of Greg (Fareine), Tim (Bailey), Philip (JoAnna) and Thomas, and great grandmother to baby DeVoe due April 2022. Beloved sister of Mary Campo of Philadelphia and Suzi Molz of Baltimore, preceded in death by Paul (Tinque) Blakely and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Surrounded by family, Jane passed peacefully on December 10, 2021.
Jane was born on May 20, 1935 in Erie, PA to Eugene and Isabelle Blakely. She attended Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD and earned a bachelors degree in Sociology from Notre Dame College in Maryland. She worked for Catholic Charities until her marriage in 1959.
She met the love of her life at a dance in State College, PA in the fall of 1954. Hank and Jane's honeymoon involved driving from Virginia to Twentynine Palms, CA where Hank was stationed as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. They had their first child David in Palm Springs then moved to Sparta, NJ in 1961. Jane was involved in Girl Scouts and was a troop leader for Aileen and Laurie's troops until 1983. In 1977, she began a career with World Book Encyclopedias. She was successful with at-home sales, then began selling encyclopedias to schools and libraries across northern New Jersey. She retired from this career at the age of 78.
Jane's dedication to the Catholic faith, love of family, sense of humility, positive attitude and quiet strength was a powerful witness to all who knew her. She loved to travel! Jane earned several trips through World Book and was able to take both her daughters to the Carribean. She saw the USA from Alaska to Florida to see family, friends, and many National Parks. She went overseas to Germany for "Oberammergau", as well as Ireland, Italy, Poland, and Hungary. She was quite the card shark! She loved to play poker and would routinely sweep up her family's chips as she was always so cagey with her bets. Her perfect poker face tricked the table every time.
Hank and Jane were married for 46 years. She missed him every day and the family knows that he is waiting to greet her with open arms! Together they will enjoy the glory of God!
