

Jean was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Anthony who passed in 2024, and her two sons, Michael, who passed in 2011, and Matthew, who passed in 2021, and brother, Frank Schmidlapp, who passed in 2006.
She is survived by her loving daughter Susan Gundry and her husband Lance, her daughter-in-law Laura DeNesco, her beloved grandchildren, Krista, Camryn, Alyssa, Jenna, Nickolas, Miranda, as well as her sweet great-granddaughter, Marina.
Jean was born in Long Island, NY, grew up in Guttenberg, NJ. She attended Memorial High School in West New York, NJ and graduated in 1952. After graduating from high school she had then met her husband, Anthony, and they were married on May 28, 1955. Together they moved and started raising their family in Cliffside Park, NJ and then later on moved to Bogota, NJ, both towns of Bergen County NJ. Once Jean had retired, she and Anthony moved down the shore to Manahwkin, NJ to live out their golden years together.
Jean worked for Time and Life magazine when she was younger and then later worked for Nelson Patterson Insurance Agency for 8 years. When she wasn’t at work she was a devoted wife, mother, and later after retirement a wonderful grandmother.
She loved reading, gardening, baking and cooking, watching classic movies and listening to all different kinds of music. Jean was a lover of animals, specifically dogs. She was of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed spending time on the beach and traveling, Jean enjoyed her weekly card games with her friends. But, her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family whom she cherished with all her heart.
Her daughter and grandchildren are filled with such fond memories. Jean flooded their hearts with much laughter and love. She was a very warm and kind, most nurturing mother and grandmother there was. Her family will deeply miss her as she was one of a kind.
