Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, she was a graduate of Bayonne High School. After graduation she attended Jersey City State College majoring in Art Education. After graduation, she secured numerous positions (And layoffs) ultimately securing a job with the Wood-Ridge BOE teaching high school art for well over 20 years. These were wonderful years until her disability led to her retirement.
Laura met the love of her life, John, when at his shore house in Belmar, NJ. They married in June 1982. They lived in Newark, Belleville and Nutley before purchasing a home in Clifton in 1985. There were many, many dinners, barbecues, good friends and good times that I am sure are still remembered. During this time, we hosted four foreign exchange students, three from Thailand and one from Ecuador. It was an amazingly gratifying experience that ultimately led to the adoption of our son John from Thailand, yet another blessing. Laura was a consummate decorator. Every season was celebrated both inside and outside the house with John at her heels. This decorating further enhanced the entertainment; and the festivities reflected the boost. In addition to John Laura also loved her dogs, in order, Snowflake, Dee Dee, Rocky, Dee Dee-2, Bella, Chelsie and Brandy all adding to the joyous atmosphere.
One fondest memory was when a neighbor (Rather grumpy) dropped in and voiced “You know you can feel the love when you enter this home.” A phrase we never forgot and wholeheartedly agreed with. That was a direct result of Laura loving, giving and accepting different types of people, which further enriched our lives as well. Her love and compassion for others that they may only know, keep those warm thoughts as you think of her, I know she did for you.
In June 2009 we moved to Lafayette, NJ for more space and acreage. There we met wonderful new neighbors and settled in for the balance of the ride.
